How important has your architectural education been in hosting Extreme Engineering? He does national outreach as a consultant for Discovery Education, lectures internationally on architecture and sustainability, and teaches a graduate level architecture studio on sustainable design for both Harvard and Syracuse universities. The first season of Build It Bigger, for which Forster traveled everywhere from New Orleans to Shanghai to Istanbul over the course of a ten-month shoot, aired on the Discovery Channel from July to October 2007. That was an incredible experience. As a result my thesis was significantly more grounded than it would have been otherwise, and I think that was a good thing. His graduate thesis devised a vertical corporate campus that resolves the tension between real-estate valuation and architectural typologies. In order to shoot the 1st season I took off the fall semester and we shot from August straight through February. As a New Yorker, Danny was grateful to be able to respond to the seismic event he and his city had experienced. Forster is also the creator and executive producer, alongside Steven Spielberg, of The Rising, a long-form documentary series chronicling the rebuilding of Ground Zero.
This season will introduce an on-screen host to replace the previous voice-over narrator. Geoff you would be a fantastic host, I am certain. Syracuse University asked him to bring the course to its School of Architecture in 2010. This talk guides audiences through some examples of seemingly unapproachable and confusing architecture. The Arizona show was also my first shoot, and on the 2nd day of shooting-- I kinda almost died, which was pretty memorable.
