AMYA is celebrating "Fifteen Years of Alaska's Promise", 18-27 June 2009. We need updated contact information for all graduates. The 1-1/2 weeks of scheduled events are based on the Eight Core Components and will culminate in a Day of Celebration on 27 June at the Bryant Army Airfield Hangar #4, including barbecue, live music, games, prizes, and entertainment for the whole family. Day of Caring - Health & Hygiene Outreach: June 18 - Support for dependents of deployed service members. POCs: Ron Forbes, 907-384-6029, and Ed Amituanai, 907-384-1176.
Day of Sharing - Service to the Community: June 19-26 at various locations. POCs: Ron Forbes, 907-384-6029, and Ed Amituanai, 907-384-1176.
Day of Physical Fitness and Team Building: June 20 - Participation in the Anchorage Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon. The 26.2-mile marathon starts at 8:00 a.m. at Bartlett High School and ends at West High School. The 13.1-mile half marathon and Five Miler begin at 9:00 a.m. at West High School. Day of Honoring - Leadership/Followship: June 23 - Special luncheon for the "pioneers" of the Alaska ChalleNGe Program from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Wilderness Inn Dining Facility on Ft. Richardson. POC: Dr. James Jones, 907-384-6017.
Day of Remembering - Responsible Citizenship: June 24 - A wreath laying and remembrance ceremony for those we have lost will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m at the Ft. Richardson National Cemetery. Day of Outreach - Life-coping Skills: June 24 - Recruiting applicants for the next classes. Visit Wal-Mart in Fairbanks, Wasilla, Eagle River, and midtown Anchorage to talk to staff and former cadets about the program. POC: Deb Morton, 907-384-6120.
School Days - Academic Excellence: June 24-25 - Parent/teacher conferences and academic opportunities orientation. On-campus conferences Wednesday, June 24, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m; teleconferences on Thursday, June 25, from 9:00-11:30 a.m, 1:00-4:30 p.m. POC: Tom Hamil, 907-384-6102.
Career Days - Job Skills and Placement Preparation: 26 June - Career and Education Fair is open to the public from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and open to cadets from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Thirty+ presentors will be at the National Guard Armory, Building 49000, Camp Denali, Ft.
