The Georgia National Guard ChalleNGe academy, a preventive rather than remedial youth-at-risk program, targets participants who are unemployed, drug-free and law-free high school dropouts, 16 to 18 years of age.

Eligibility


Eligibility Criteria

Applicant:

  • Must be at least 16 years old, but not yet 19.
  • Must be a high school dropout.
  • Must be a citizen or legal resident of the State of Georgia.
  • Must be unemployed or underemployed. 
  • Must be free of illegal drugs.  
  • Must be free from involvement in the legal and court system. 
  • Submit completed application with required documents. 
  • Complete the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and submit scores. 
  • Be chosen by State Selection Committee. 
  • Attend a one-day orientation program. 
  • Must be medically fit.
  • Upon arrival at the Academy, must successfully complete drug screening. 
  • Must volunteer.

A mandatory drug screen will be conducted on opening day.  Applicants may not enter the Hard Core ChalleNGe Phase if they test positive for the presence of illegal drugs.
