Week 19 - Headcount 110

  • 11/16 & 17 - GED testing then Post-TABE testing will begin later in the week.
  • Weekend Activities:  Overnight trip to Camp Gruber was a success!  All cadets were allowed to rappel, most cadets went thru the weapons simulator, & select cadets got to paintball.  Pizza for lunch and BBQ burgers for dinner topped off the weekend.  CL/DL passes went well, too!

Week 18 - Headcount 111

  • 11/13 - Select cadets played at the Attucks Alt School volleyball game.
  • 11/12 - Mock interviewsPryor Veteran's Day Parade
  • 11/11 - Cadets participated in Veteran's  Day Parade for Jay, Pryor, Claremore & Oakhaven Cemetary Veteran's event.
  • Working on wrapping up the last 2 weeks of Education & Counseling (PRAP) classes.
  • Weekend activities:  3rd PLT participated in a land navigation course at The Bunker in Wyandotte, 2nd PLT did a car wash on post, 1st & 4th went to the Muskogee Veteran's Day Parade, 47 cadets went to the Wagoner Gospel Event Saturday night while the remainder watched a movie on post (G.I. Joe).  Mentor pass & church on Sunday.

Week 17 - Headcount 114

  • 11/6 - US Air Force recruiter visit only for interested cadets.
  • 11/6 - Cadets participated in an Equal Opportunity/Equal Employment Opportunity/Prevention of Sexual Harassment

    & Diversity training conducted by an OMD HR rep.

  • Weekend activities: 26 cadets from 2nd PLT went to the Food Bank to sort & box food for distribution, 27 cadets went to the Buzzi-Unicem Cement Plant USA Tire Collection Day, 26 cadets visited the patients at Colonial Terrace, 18 cadets from 3rd PLT helped serve dinner, work carnival booths & cleanup at the Osage Fall Festival, 10 cadets helped with traffic control & parking at the HalloZOOween in Tulsa.

Week 16 - Headcount 115

  • 30 Oct - ASVAB retesting for select cadets
  • 29-30 Oct - 10 high merit cadets helped with traffic control & parking at HalloZOOween in Tulsa.
  • 29 Oct - 12 cadets helped out at the Cherokee Nation Salina Headstart CP.
  • Weekend Activities: On Saturday 36 cadets took the ACT test, 38 cadets did some landscaping at the St. Simeon's Episcopal Home, 30 cadets helped with games at the Chouteau Fall Festival, pumpkin turning at a local patch,

Week 15 - Headcount 116

  • OSU-Okmulgee pictures added to Photo Gallery.
  • Updated merit level, COC & LOW.
  • October pass - Hope everyone enjoyed their cadet time this weekend!

Week 14 - Headcount 117

  • 10/12 - Golf elective cadets did a CP for the Pryor Women's Golf Association, 18 cadets performed a Betsy Ross Ceremony at the Orchids Paper plant at the Pryor Industrial Park.
  • 10/11 - 78 cadets went on a Mentor pass this weekend.
  • 10/10 - Most cadets assisted with the NTC Food Drive, 6 meal prep cadets helped out at the Oddfellows Church Breakfast, 4th PLT turned pumpkins at a local patch.

Week 13 - Headcount 117

  • 10/9 - About 44 cadets donating blood today.
  • 10/8 - CL/DL cadets went to the Tulsa State Fair.
  • 10/5 - Meal prep cadets helped prepare & serve breakfast at the Pryor Chamber of Commerce's NTC Appreciation event.  47 cadets helped pass out sacks for the NTC Great Days of Service Food drive on Mon & Tues.  And several cadets turned pumpkins at a local pumpkin patch on Mon & Thurs.
  • New pictures added to the Photo Gallery of the Director's List cadets, Elk's Day Activities and the Pryor Fever 5k & Mud Run.
  • Weekend Activities:  10 cadets went to the Tulsa Air National Guard Family Day, 6 cadets helped park vehicles at the Pryor Band Days event, 16 cadets earned a merit pass, 30 cadets attended the Wagoner Gospel Event Saturday evening.

Week 12 - Headcount 117

  • 9/28 - Picture day!  Be sure to get your orders in.
  • Weekend Activities:  All cadets attended the Pryor 5k Mud Run on Saturday.  Cadet Salazar placed 3rd overall in the 5k and other cadets received medals as well.  Saturday also Company movie night: Lord of the Flies.  Sunday was Elk's Fun Day Event and it went very well.  Cadets always enjoy a full day of golf, volleyball, and other sports events.

Week 11 - Headcount 118 - Half Way Point!!!

  • NTC evening class for Computer Maintenance is going really well so far.  Great experience and interactions with other students for the cadets. Small engine repair & powder puff auto mechanics classes start in October. Get ready to get greasy girls!
  • Weekend Activities:  8 cadets faced for the Cure early Saturday morning.  Various CP projects around the area and a car wash.  31 selected cadets observed a live fire evolution with COC Edwards at Camp Gruber.  Part of the President's Challenge testing over the weekend.

Week 10 - Headcount 120

  • Congrats to Cadet Walters...she is the learner of the week!
  • Congratulations to Cadet McNight named as the Company First Sergeant effective 14-Sep-09. Wk 10 chain of command updated.
  • Weekend Activities:  SAT - 2nd PLT spread gravel at St. Simeon's in Tulsa; 3rd PLT helped at the Rogers Cnty Fair; 1st PLT cleaned up at local parks; 4th PLT helped with parking at the Grand Lake Airport Rally.
    SUN - Mentor Pass (about 55 cadets picked up for pass) Some cadets from 4th & end finished up at the Roger Cnty Fair.

Week 9 - Headcount 120

  • All cadets returned from pass & no drug hots.  Way to go cadets!  Open House pictures have been uploaded to the Photo Gallery.
  • Congrats to Cadet Wellman -
    Learner of WEEK 8!!!  and
    Cadet Putman, M - Learner of WK 9!!! 
    All the Learners will be treated to a lunch prepared by the Meal Prep elective on Friday, mmm Italian! 

Week 8 - Headcount 120

  • Open House Pass - 9/4-8/09.  No weekend activities to report.
  • Merit Info - 9/3 Cadet Provenzano promoted to Director's List!
  • 8/31 - Install new platoon guides today & Academic Streamer goes to 4th PLT!

Week 7 - Headcount 120

  • 8/29-30 - Weekend activities - 1st PLT to Pryor Cemeteries, 2nd PLT to Snowdale State Park for cleanup, 3rd PLT cleanup at Adair Ballfields, 4th PLT to Pryor Nature Trail.
  • Cadets on the proper merit level were given the opportunity to make a phone call this weekend.  A handful did not make contact.
  • Car Wash & all platoons pitched in for individual pizza parties in their bldgs.  The company watched a movie about leadership:  Crimson Tide.
  • 8/28 - Mentor Training day and matching activities.  Mentors & cadets had lunch together then participated in a D&C competition. 
  • Merit Info - Cadet Allen (2nd PLT) promoted to Commandant's List.  Cadet Miller (2nd PLT) promoted to Directors List as well.

Week 6 - Headcount 124

  • Weekend Activities - 3rd PLT to Pryor Creek Cemetery, 2nd PLT to Sequoyah State Park, 3rd & 1st did car washes.  Company watched Freedom Writers.
  • Merit Info - Cadet Miller (2nd) & Cadet Provenzano (1st) passed Commandant's List test this week. CL cadets got a 15 minute phone call & opportunity to buy candy from DFAC.

Week 5 - Headcount 125 - Electives (meal prep, Honor Guard, woodworking, newspaper, art, golf, etc.), library trips and "Just for Girls" counseling sessions begin.

Week 4 - Headcount 127 - Education classes begin.

Week 3 - Headcount 134
Cadets begin Pre-TABE testing this week to determine education levels and what subjects need more work so teachers can focus their lesson plans.

  • Service to Community projects begin this week.  As one of the 8 Core Components a minimum of 40 hrs is required by NGB but TYA cadets usually average about 100 hrs per cadet.  These activities help enhance a new level of community needs awareness in cadets.

Day 14/15 (7/25-26) - Headcount 134 -  All cadets given the opportunity to make a phone call over the weekend.  Any cadets who did not get through to someone will be given another chance Mon. or Tues. evening as time allows.  Please be aware that cadets were only given an opportunity to make a phone call, we do not regulate WHO they call.  Cadets wishing to attend church went to Pryor on Fire Sunday morning.

Day 13 (7/24) - Headcount 135 -  All candidates have transitioned to cadets today.  Some highlights of the ceremony as follows:

  • Head gear issued to all cadets
  • Assigned the first Company & Platoon Guide On Bearers (responsible for carrying the flags):
    • 1st PLT - Cadet Williams, W
    • 2nd PLT - Cadet Allen
    • 3rd PLT - Cadet Ivory
    • 4th PLT - Cadet Lane
    • Company Guide One - Cadet Almanza
  • 1st platoon earned the 1st Physical Fitness banner of the cycle.  The females are in great shape! GIRL POWER!
  • 5 cadets stood out during pre-challenge and earned positive spot reports so they will begin the Challenge phase on Merit Level 5:  Cadets Calhoun, Goudeau, Offield, Salizar-Ojeda, & Swafford (way to go!).  The remaining cadets start at ML 4 so they can go up or down the merit system based on their actions.

Day 12 (7/23) - 138 on grounds
Day 11 (7/22) - 141 on grounds - Morning PT, volleyball tournament, Academic requirements review w/Lead Instructor-Ms. McCulley, lots of laundry today.
Day 10 (7/21) - 141 on grounds - Morning PT, D&C, team building, Academy values w/SS Burlin, group discussions.
Day 9 (7/20) - 146 on grounds - Morning PT, team building & Academy values review, D&C.
Day 8 (7/19) - 149 on grounds - Morning excercises, team building events, Academy values & handbook highlight review, D&C, group discussions.
Day 7 (7/18) - 152 on grounds - 1 mile run, cadet creed & leadership review, team building activities.
Day 6 (7/17) - Aahhh, the weather is nice! Started day with 7 requesting to leave.  Morning stretching, laundry review, D&C as weather permits, team building activities, Honor Code & Merit system review, group discussions. 152 on grounds.
Day 5 (7/16) Much cooler today!  5 left - 160 on grounds
Curl ups, team building activities, honor code & discipline system.  All candidates enjoyed the cooler weather by climbing on the Nat'l Guard rock wall. 
Day 4 (7/15) - So very HOT!  10 left / 1 backfill - 165 total
Morning stretch, more laundry, D&C, v-sit & shuttle runs, Academy values, honor system.
Day 3 (7/14) - Still HOT! 6 left / 11 backfills - 174 total
Billets maintenance, laundry procedures, push ups, D&C, life at the academy, tornado/fire drills, evening discussions.
Day 2 (7/13) - Weather is HOT!  19 left / 1 backfill - 169 total
Candidates begin training on how to do everything, i.e. make  rack, make right decisions, drill & ceremony (D&C), cadet contracts, meal procedures, personal hygiene, etc.
Day 1 (7/12) - 187 Registered - Long, hot day but I think everyone survived!  Lots of tearful parents today but all in all things went well.
