Field Trips

In addition to the on-campus GED classes and training the cadets take educational and entertaining field trips to various places throughout the local area. These trips expose the cadets to educational, career, vocational opportunities or enhance the lessons taught in the classroom as part of the eight core components.

Typically there are trips to:

  • Mammoth Cave National Park
  • Abraham Lincoln's Birth Place
  • The Corvett Assembly Plant and Museum
  • Salato Wildlife Education Center
  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • The Kentucky State Capitol Building
  • The Patton Museum
  • The Great Onyx Job Corps Facility
  • C130 Airplane Flight
  • Black Hawk Helicopter Flight

Additionally the cadets will spend three to four days and nights outside in a military style field enviornment where they will pitch a two-man pup tent and receive training in road marches, land navigation, map reading, team building exercises, rappelling and other additional training. This gives the cadets in leadership positions a chance to sharpen their leadership skills.
